We love Taos and we love film.

So we thought, why not host a film challenge to get our local film community hyped about creating something quick & dirty & fun? 

In the Fall of 2023 we challenged Taos filmmakers to create a film, from script to finish, in a mere 24 hours. Several filmmakers took up arms and battled their wits to create frenz-filled masterpieces. And so we rewarded their efforts and screened their films on the TCA BIG Screen!

A grand time was had by all. Hence, we decided to do it again.

This time, however, we came to our senses... sort of. In the Spring of 2024 we challenged filmmakers to create a film within forty-eight-- check it. Yes, 48 hours. The results? A full-on spectrum of Taos creativity. TCA's auditorium and lobby were buzzing. Along with it, the joy of filmmakers networking with one another, thus cementing the vision of what Taos 48 Hour Film Challenge offers to our beloved community: Connection through the creation of films.

Since then, we've collaborated with the Paseo Project, blending art installation with the digital. We've also explored activism. Our March 2025 theme '¡Viva Artivism!,' provided filmmakers a chance to voice their perspective on the current state of our world (with live chicken cameos, of course). 

And after all that, our story will only continue onward <3
